  CELEBRATING ARTS & CULTURE
ACFC Festival (Day 2)
Posted October 1, 2012
ACFC Festival 2012Sunday, September 30th was the second day of Cochrane's Arts &
Culture Festival, which featured an antique car show.

The street outside the gallery was lined with classic and vintage automobiles, but there was room for the artists and their easels
as well -- not to mention a double-double from TIm Horton's, too!
(Far right).

It was the kind of street display that made Janet's painting of a '57 Chev feel right at home. (Near right.).

  WHERE'S JANET?
Gone Painting...
Posted March 1, 2012
During the month of March, regular visitors to Just Imajan Gallery might be surprised to find owner/artist Janet B. Armstrong not painting on-site as usual -- but those who've followed her career over the years won't be.  Janet has achieved another oft-dreamed goal and has been recognized by the Leighton Artists' Colony who invited her to participate as an artist in residence at the Banff Centre from March 1st to 31st, 2012.  She is currently off-site working on a new series of paintings inspired by her mountain retreat.

The gallery remains open during her hiatus.  Drop in to see the art and antiques on display, including the plein airs from Janet's fall trip to the Bugaboos.  Browse works by guest artists and check out the collectibles brought in by antiques-picker Gerry Frost, who was recently featured in an article of the Western Producer.  See new giclees by Jack Tennant and new paintings by Carmen Miller.  On Saturday and Sunday afternoons, meet artist Carmen Miller while she paints in the studio.

Janet returns in April.  Until then, simply think of her as "gone painting".

  SNOWMEN
Destined for WinterFest
Posted December 29, 2011
Plain papier mache snowmen were created by a local artist and sold to various Cochrane businesses for unique embellishment. Just Imajan Art Gallery purchased one, which owner Janet Armstrong painted with a selection of antique toys from her collection.

Columnist Jack Tennant reported the Cochrane Eagle's snowman "stolen", but it turned up a few days later decorated with a glass bead mosaic. Rumor has it, Jack and Janet were at it again, although both deny any involvement.

All sixteen snowman will be displayed from noon to 8:00 p.m. on January 28th at the 2012 Cochrane WinterFest held at the Cochrane Lions Rodeo Grounds.

Cochrane Business Chicks saddled up for a great weekend getaway at Rafter Six Ranch.  Participants couldn't have asked for anything better of this event.  There was beautiful weather, an evening trail ride, delicious dinner, wine and cheese, an outdoor breakfast buffet, a river hike, and a Jacuzzi to relax in at the end of the day.

Janet Armstrong of Just Imajan Studios was the organizer of this first-time event targeted at Cochrane's local business women.

Many thanks to the staff of Rafter Six Ranch for their hospitality and service.

When Calgary commercial photographer Carla Fedje was scouting unusual backdrops for her wedding clients, she came across Just Imajan Art Gallery & Studio.  Charmed by the eclectic blend of art and decor, she approached Janet about using the gallery for a photo shoot.

The result was a beautiful collaboration between artists, and a unique addition
to Nicole and Kevin's wedding album.  For more of Carla Fedje's work, visit www.carlafedje.com.
